WRONG. If you get first in a GvG AT, it's 60 Reward Points I believe. But we're talking about first here. Pretty much to even hope for first place is being in a top 20 guild. But wait! What about 1v1 AT's? 1st place ONLY gets 26 reward points. The average person in top 25% of AT's will get roughly 15 reward points. If I spent all the time I have spent doing AT's and hero battles (you still gotta do regular matches for practice or else you'll never be that good) and farmed for money for FoW instead I would have like 2 Fow Sets by now. And let's just add that I've only accumulated a total of 600 reward points... barely halfway to getting Fancy Armor. Which I still have to spend even more RP just to buy the fancy armor I want.

Jealousy is a bitch.
Anyways, getting obsidian armor in PvP takes more time than in PvE. Also, it requires skill. Aggroing mutated bulls and refreshing enchantments does not. Also, ecto's are worth what? 5k? 4k?

/notsigned

and still, lol

Easy to Get?
http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Obsidian_Armor
120 Ectoplasm (average = ~6.5k) = 780k
120 Shards (average = 3.4k)
780k + 408k + 75k(15k per peice) + ~400 of a Common Crafting Material

Total for PvE = 1,263K (not including common crafting materials)

when one of you PvP'ers can give me 1,263k in a month without using a credit card let me know.

oh wait..... thats possible because you guys get rare skin weapons like the stygian reaver from the HoH chest (whenever you guys do that... doesn't seem you guys have cared for the past oh... 10 months?).

PvP was meant to be an instant level 20 toon with all the skills unlocked... NOT an Instant level 20 toon + all skills unlocked + ability to unlock armor.

It takes a crazy amount of PvP skill against other PvP players to earn these reward points at a half-decent rate. I've done plenty of calculations about this in other threads, but didn't know the final cost of FoW armor.

Essentially, it will take over 4 months for the top 20 HvH players to be able to access the final tiers of armor and weapons, plus another 2 months to earn enough for FoW itself. Getting this armor is neither cheap, or easy by any stretch, especially compared to PvE.

The price of an Ecto is now 5.5k and Shards are 2.7k at the trader, so less than that at market value. The total price makes it less than 1,000k including crafting costs when you buy from people, not traders. I think a million gold would be pretty easy to farm steadily over a four month period, as you're not competing directly with other people for it.

Let's make a real comparison, using the million gold baseline.

Each tournament, you get 26 points for first place (20+6), and less if you're in the top 16th, scaling all the way to one point a win. Each tournament takes under an hour and a half to complete. To be able to unlock high end armor, you need to spend 20 points x 50 for fancy armor, plus 200 points x 5 for your Obsidian armor. This doesn't count the cost for an exotic weapon, because we don't yet know how much it costs because nobody has gotten there yet. That's 1000 to unlock the tier, and another 1000 to afford it. That's 2000 points total.

To make a direct comparison, earning one point is like earning 500g toward your obsidiant armor. Now, imagine you are an average, competant PvP player and you enter a number of tournaments. Each tournament, you get 3 wins and 3 loses. That would net in you in a place between 20th and 35th, give or take a few places, and in all cases, you would end up with 3 points.

That's 80 minutes of your time for 1.5k, on a strict shedule, that is, you can only play 3 times a day on specific hours of the day, so you have to fit your shedule around it. I think any PvE player who actively farms should be able to beat that mark, especially because they are not restricted by time.

At 3 points a tourney, 5 tourney's a week, it would take over two and a half years for this PvPer to gain FoW armor. Guild Wars hasn't existed for that long yet.

For people who say "Oh you nubs are just jealous" or whatever, I bet not a single one of you would sign for phoenix emotes corresponding to PvE titles. Why? Jealous? Want all the pretty candy to yourself???

If PvE got emotes, new or recycled ones, for Kind of a Big Deal, People Know Me, and I'm Very important, I'd be happy indeed. That's a big enough challenge to deserve an emote.

There is no reason why a PvP character should care about PvE emotes, same as there is no reason why a PvE character should care about PvP armor. Players who tend to one side of the scale hardly ever see the other in game, so I don't see how anyone could feel that one person's accomplishments in a different gametype diminish their own.

Wanting all the pretty candy to yourself is a pretty piss poor attitude, wouldn't you agree?

If you had any idea how hard it is to even unlock a couple of 1.5k armors...you wouldn't be making this thread. Not to mention the fact that they're not even account-based; you buy 'em for a char, you have to keep that char or you lose it.

Yeah if they find out about it. They can not find out if someone buys gold from a website unless the account name the person uses for the site is the same as their GW one and Anet hack into the site to find them. the sites are spammed in international districts and so yeah it is that easy.

I actually want elite armor in PvP...
Why? Well, I'm not the best farmer, and I PvP more often than I do PvE.
I do have 15k canthan on my warrior, and that left me with 299 gold left. Fear it.
Anyway, I would actually like to.... uuuh... get 15k armor for my PvP characters because i would look cool... and pretty...
But it's mainly for my own greed.

Who gives a rat's ass?

It's not like the PvP character will come waltzing though Gates of Kryta.

Yes, you can unlock it for PvP, but that's all. Why should PvE armour even show up in PvP matches? It's not like you earned it killing folks, you farm moron AI. I vote that PvE armours turn into starter armour in PvP, and ONLY PvP armour unlocks can show up.

Oh, /notsigned if you hadn't grasped that.

Given that PvE characters can take EVERYTHING they have into PvP or PvE, despite not earning a shred of it actually playing PvP I don't see how giving PvP-only characters the ability to earn PvP-only rewards is of ANY concern to a PvEer.

I'm not against PvP getting Nice prizes, but they already get enormously better prizes than PvE. They get cash prizes, real cash prizes! And just about the only thing PvE has going for it is collecting high-end armors/weapons. But now PvP has all the PvE armors, and more weapons...

I'm not saying PvPers don't work for there's, they probably work alot harder (not that I would really know I'm mostly a PvE'r) but the thing is they still get the cash prizes and everything that PvE'rs get. I don't know but that doesn't seem very fair to me...

If all the people that bought gold got banned there wouldnt be all the bots farming because there wouldnt be anyone buying it.

Think before posting.

In GW there hybrid players(like me),hardcore PvPer and hardcore PvErs,Its just another way to get some armor,if PvE/farming is not ur stuff then go PvP^^Anyway with a PvP character you can showoff only at GuildHall in PvP aeras, and elite/obsidian armor are made to showoff arn't they?=P

But I still think there a downpoint, when I am PvPing im used to say when I see someone in 15karmor/obsidian "gg,this guy is a PvEr and work hard to have it".

But just a question,how can you get those elite/obsidian armor?Baltha points?If yes how much for a Elite?10k?

So since the armors and weapon skins have been added to PVP and that isnt a problem, it isnt a problem for emotes and mini ghostlys to be made aquirable in PVE correct?

How can so many people say its fine for PVP to PVE's armor, when PVE cannot obtain the rewards PVP'ers get?

Ok, so theres no such thing as PVP emotes and PVE emotes anymore either, therefore emotes should be added to PVE by your own logic.

Elite armor and rare skins were things that were only aquirable via PVE. If a PVP player wants them, they should have to PVE to get them, just as a PVE player that wants a bambi has to play PVP.
Reward Points aren't easy to get.
and you can get crystallines in pve tyvm

The armour sets are a helluva lot more elite gained from PvP than PvE, so I see no reason why to nerf this system.
